Limescale and its causes.
Limescale is caused by mineral deposits, i.e. calcium and magnesium hydrogencarbonate originating from limestone and dolomite dissolved by water; this water eventually makes its way to water reservoirs and households. A rise in water temperature results in increased limescale deposits. These slowly collect in the plumbing, washing machine and sanitary equipment and eventually clog the pipes, impede water flow and cause issues, such as broken valves, dullness, stains, clogged aerators and increased energy use.
